Effective at 11:59 pm Friday May 1, 2020, the Burn Ban Restrictions in the Town of Caledon will be lifted. Residents with a valid Caledon Burn Permit, will be permitted to burn items in accordance with the permit conditions at that time.
As a precautionary measure, please consider the wind speed and direction, with the grass and brush starting to dry out, it is very easy for fire to spread uncontrollably with the smallest of breezes.
A permit is needed before any items are burned and can only be done in approved areas.
• Open Air permits ($43) are for larger lots (at least a half-acre in size) to burn yard waste (but not grass clippings or leaves)
• Recreational permits ($26) are for residential properties that meet minimum size/distance requirements
• Agricultural permits intended for agricultural properties. These permits are NOT available online. They require an inspection, which must be arranged in advance by calling Caledon Fire and Emergency Services at 905.584.2272 x. 4303.
Failure to obtain an open-air burning permit OR comply with the conditions with the permit may result in a fine and/or invoice as set out in the current Fees By-law. Permits are only available online at burnpermits.caledon.ca as our facilities remain closed to the public due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Materials from your lawn, yard or garden may be collected as yard waste by the Region of Peel. Yard waste pick up information: Yard waste.
